Cotton is a rough, ribbon-shaped fiber with a large
surface area. As such, cotton has a high dirt-holding
capacity and makes an excellent filter media.
We processed cotton is an all-bleached, natural fiber
with no finish. The recommended operating temperature is
121°C. All materials in our cotton cartridges meet
the requirements for applications that fall under Food
and Drug. No taste or odor is imparted by the cotton
fiber.
All cotton wound Cartridges provide true depth
filtration through hundreds of tapered filtering
passages of controlled size and shape. The diagonal
winding of roving on a center core makes a firm
interlocking weave that results in a cartridge that
prevents channeling and by passing, and greatly reduces
fiber migration. As the cartridge is wound, each layer
of roving is napped to increase filtration capabilities.
As a result, each layer of roving adds its contribution
to true depth filtration by trapping its share of
particles. In addition, the irregular outer surface
helps prevent surface blinding and helps to assure
longer cartridge life and full cartridge utilization.
Wound cartridges offer a gradual pressure increase
during cartridge life versus surface-type media that
have an abrupt flow cut-off when loaded.
